"Castello de Pioz" Primary School is located in Pioz which belongs to Guadalajara, one of the most well known provinces in Castilla- La Mancha by its natural landascapes and trekking routes. Pioz is locatedin the east-centre of Spain and situaded 40 km from Madrid, and 35 minutes to Barajas Airport, so it is well communicate with main cities in Spain.

 

Our school is one of the two primary school of our town. It has 400 students and 25 teachers. At school there are all facilities needed. As facilities the school has a library , a meeting hall, scholar dining room, a very big sports centre with a football field and basketball outdoor court; and 18 classes.

 

We had experience with international projects, working with e-twining program. The experience was amazing. Thus, with this project, we want to wark for inceasing environmental and renewable energies consciousness rising in our children.

Our staff and student are very conscious of environmental problems, but science seem hard for them, so we as school became member of "Eco-Schools" in 2004 and get the green flag in 2007. In our region there are also some wind fields, so the level of commitment on environmental issues has grown in the latest years.

 

Our region is not disadvantageous, but there is an unemployment problem in out town due to immigrations from Easter Europe contries. Our school is located in the centre of the town but is mostly composed with different house estates very farm from each other, and generally they are formed of children of middle income families. Many students, in our school, haven't got computer and internet connection in their home, so that they cannot use technology well. Like this, many students of our school haven't got enought possibilities to go abroad. Our students want to get involve of this project, meet different people and discuss with different countries the most important environmental problems that planet Earth has nowadays.
